Passing on skills and passion
Last weekend I was fortunate enough to photograph a business branding session for a new website and social media posts. Mark, who is setting up a new website to promote his wood turning business and to show how art and craft come together to produce lovely items for the home.
I love to chat and try to get what makes a person love their work and how they started. This form of hearing their story allows me to better tell that story visually. Marks grandfather was and still is a true craftsman and held office with the Ely wood turning group. His work was beautiful as he showed me a little of his past work and the display of rosettes in his office. As a teenager Mark also fell in love with wood turning and was taught by his grandfather. Although now, many years later, Mark has his own lathe he works mainly in his grandfathers workshop with all the bits and pieces organised in the way crafts people often do. Labeled in boxes and shelves filled and accumilated over many years and not some workshop where everything is shiny and new. This is my sort of space. One of the shots had to be Mark with his grandfather of course but mainly Mark working to produce a lovely bowl which he gifted to me after the session.
Here are a few shots from the session which will shortly be on his website and used on social media. Please enjoy these of a craftsman at work
